Instagram's Algorithm Friendly Practices

We've all heard phrases like 'I need to figure out Instagram's algorithm' or 'My posts aren't getting high engagement because of the algorithm'. And the classic, 'I need to post at a specific time because that's when the algorithm works best.' Say what?

There are many myths surrounding Instagram's algorithm, and I've decided to dive deep and demystify them. So, I researched, experimented, and compiled a list of things that Instagram's algorithm favors. Check it out👇👇👇!

Instagram loves when you:

  • Use keywords in your username and headline.

  • Stick to a consistent weekly posting schedule. This doesn't mean you have to post every day, but maintain consistency, even if it's just once a week.

  • Use the newest Instagram features like stickers, music, and editing tools.

  • Incorporate keywords in your captions and visual content.

  • Reply to all comments and DMs. This can be challenging, but we can automate this for you 😉.

  • Use keywords in ALT-text. Bet you didn't know this one😉!

  • Avoid using the link sticker in stories. Surprisingly, we observed better reach when people used phrases like 'DM the word...' instead.

  • Place hashtags in the caption, not in the comments.

  • Share high-quality, niche-specific content.

  • Post 3-5 stories a day with engagement stickers. Yes, it's true. We understand it's time-consuming, but that's what Instagram likes😫.

  • Use all content formats: Reels, single images, carousels, stories.

  • Use relevant hashtags. Relevancy is more powerful than quantity.

  • Get audience engagement within the first hour of posting. This is crucial! If you want to be part of a very small yet engaging group on instagram, click here, I'm starting a new one soon.

  • Have people reply to your stories. We do this in our support group.

  • Follow people in your niche. We do this in our support group.

  • Interact with your audience's content. We do this in our support group.

  • Add top leaders in your niche to your favorite list.

  • Share new/original topics.

  • Collaborate with others in your niche.

  • Have viewers save the audio from your content.

  • Encourage your audience to like, save, comment, and share your content.

Keep in mind that Instagram values content that gets saved and shared on the platform, so keep this in mind when creating your content. This list is intended to educate you. There might be a few things you haven't considered for your social media presence, and that's okay. Or maybe you don't have time for it.
